Christmas Story

B&H Rating:

This is a great movie about Christmas. It tells the story of how St. Nick came to be. What I love most about this movie is that whether or not the story is true, it helps us see that the Santa Claus figure is a figure of giving, a figure of love, which is truly the spirit of the season. Santa Claus isn't just a material and commercial part of Christmas. He is a gift giver, completely selfless, giving of himself and a great example to all of us.

Christmas with a capital C

B&H Rating:

This movie had a good message about keeping Christ the center of Christmas. I appreciated that, especially in this day when so many are afraid to make him the reason for the season.

17 Miracles

B&H Rating:

I loved this movie and would recommend it to you without reservation. It deals with the hardships that the Mormon pioneer handcart companies faced as they crossed the plains to the Salt Lake valley. It illustrates their faith and the miracles that occurred because of that faith. The stories were based on true events as recorded from the journals of those crossing. This is really a great film, with great acting. It's not your typical documentary film about these events; it really drew you into the story and made you feel as if you had been there.

I Am David

B&H Rating:

What a great movie! This movie has a good story line, a good message and excellent acting. Just good and clean overall. It's probably not a movie for young children as it deals with what happened to a boy during WWII. But I highly recommend it. Very enjoyable to watch!

Amish Grace

B&H Rating:

An excellent movie about forgiveness. Watch out - it's a real tear jerker! I wouldn't show this one to young children because of it's emotional content. It's based on a true story of the shootings that happened among the Amish a few years ago. Good, good movie!

Tangled

B&H Rating:

This is such a cute movie!! We've watched it several times since it came out and I think the thing I like the most about it is how squeaky clean it is. Many of the animated movies have turned to crude humor for their entertainment, but I love how this one doesn't. It just has so much in it that is fun, loving, and teaches good values. Highly recommend it if you haven't seen it!! Even adults can thoroughly enjoy it!

Forever Strong

B&H Rating:

Another BYUTV show - you can actually watch the show from that link. It's a good show that teaches about second chances and making good decisions.

Wind at My Back

B&H Rating:

Actually this is a TV series - it airs on BYUTV and we really enjoyed watching it last year. It's has a good story line and fun to watch.

Chariots of Fire

B&H Rating:

I like this movie a lot. It has a good message. The only drawback is that it's a little slow, but hang in there, it's a good movie!

Christy

B&H Rating:

We haven't finished this series but so far it's fantastic! It has a sweet, endearing story that teaches good values and so far has been squeaky clean! We have a few more episodes to watch, but if it passes, this one's going on my wish list for our personal collection!

Hidden Places

B&H Rating:

This is a great movie and one that I highly recommend. Definitely a chick flick, but has a great faith-filled message. I could watch this several times and still enjoy it.

Wives and Daughters

B&H Rating:

This was an excellent movie if you like "bonnet tales" (as an acquaintance of mine calls them). This one was a great bonnet tale - I especially liked it because of the ending, but I won't tell you and spoil it for you...

Treasure Blind

B&H Rating:

It took us three tries to find a movie that didn't have filth in it on Saturday, but we finally found this one. It is a nice story with a good message. It only got three stars because the quality of filming and acting is not too good, but the message makes up for it I think.

North And South

B&H Rating:

This was a great movie. It has a very similar story line to Pride and Prejudice, only a bit more dramatic and more depressing at times. It was four hours and fairly slow-moving. I wouldn't recommend it for young children because there are a few disturbing moments and a few violent scenes. Because of that, I can't say that I really want to see it again, but it was a good love-story.

To Kill a Mockingbird

B&H Rating:

This is a very well done movie. The main character (played by Gregory Peck) models the value of standing up for what is right no matter what the consequences are. It really made me think about how often my own hypocrisies and fears get in the way of doing what I know to be right.

He Knew He was Right

B&H Rating:

This is a long movie. It was very interesting - another deep thinking movie. A good one to watch when you are feeling stubborn about something. I'm not sure I really liked the ending...

The Inheritance

B&H Rating:

I watched this movie 3 times - once by myself, once with my husband and once with my mom. Each time was enjoyable. This was an excellent movie - a real romance!

Time Changer

B&H Rating:

This was an excellent movie with a great message from our Christian brothers and sisters. It's one of those movies that you think about long after it's over. It reminded me of how much we have in common with our friends of other faiths.

Seasons of the Heart

B&H Rating:

This is a really good movie! But I'm warning you, it's a tear jerker! In a good way though. It's about a family that has lost two daughters. They have to let go of their two girls and come to accept and love a little boy whom they are asked to adopt. This movie really helped me because it was a gentle reminder that we need to show love to our children and look past the goofy and even downright annoying things they sometimes do!
